Sodium naphthalenesulfonate formaldehyde condensate (Dispersant NNO )

Dispersant NNO is a widely used chemical additive in the textile printing and dyeing industry. Its chemical composition is Sodium naphthalenesulfonic acid formaldehyde condensate, an anionic surfactant. It appears as a light yellow to brown powder, is readily soluble in water, and is resistant to acids, alkalis, salts, and hard water.  1% aqueous solution has a pH of 7-9.

Its primary functions include improving dye dispersion, preventing dye aggregation, and enhancing dyeing uniformity. It plays a key role in processes such as vat dye suspension pad dyeing and leuco acid dyeing. This product is also used as a pesticide dispersant, in the papermaking industry, and as a water treatment agent. Below are details info:

  • Name: Dispersant NNO
  • Alias: 2-Naphthalenesulfonic Acid Formaldehyde Polymer Sodium Salt
  • CAS No: 36290-04-7
  • Molecular Formula: C₁₁H₁₁O₄S
  • Applications: Dispersant NNO, also known as Sodium salt of polynaphthalene sulphonic acid, 2-naphthalenesulfonic acid/ formaldehyde sodium salt. has excellent diffusivity and protective colloid properties, but lacks surface activity such as osmotic foaming. It has an affinity for protein and polyamide fibers, but not for cotton, linen, and other fibers.

It is primarily used as a dispersant in disperse dyes, vat dyes, reactive dyes, acid dyes, and leather dyes, offering excellent milling efficiency, solubilization, and dispersibility. It can also be used as a dispersant in textile printing and dyeing, wettable pesticides, and papermaking.

Sodium Naphthalene Sulfonate Formaldehyde

Dispersant NNO Usage Conditions:

  • Solution pH
Optimal use is in a weakly alkaline environment with a pH of 7-9.
  • Temperature and Dosage
Dye Processing: The dosage is typically 0.5-3 times the dye amount (for vat dyes) or 1.5-2 times (for disperse dyes), with some remaining as a filler.
  • Dyeing Process
Vat dye suspension pad dyeing: Add 3.5-5.5 g/L to the pad dye bath; 17-22 g/L to the reducing bath.
  • Disperse dye high-temperature and high-pressure dyeing: Add 0.6-1.7 g/L to the dye bath.
  • Synergy: Can be mixed with anionic and nonionic surfactants to enhance dispersibility.
  • Applications: Primarily used in the dye industry (vat dye suspension pad dyeing, disperse dye dyeing, etc.). It can also be used as a rubber stabilizer and leather tanning auxiliaries.
